Dr. Vikram Ravoory is a former D1 tennis player turned dental implant surgeon. It doesn’t stop there; Vik also shares his creative side on Instagram with his 190k followers on top of his other business ventures. As a man of many passions, we were intrigued by how pickleball fit into his jam-packed schedule.
Ravoory explains, “I believe having interests and hobbies outside work is really important. I don’t often talk about dentistry outside of the office, so I make an effort to pursue other passions like social media, sports, and business ventures. In fact, sometimes people even forget that dentistry is my primary job!”
Vik was introduced to pickleball when he lived in Hudson Yards, NYC. About two years ago, there was a pop-up for a company called City Pickle. Vik happened to go with a couple friends and met the CEO, who suggested he play more often due to his tennis background. Vik’s been playing with his favorite paddle, the Franklin FS Tour Dynasty, ever since.
One of Vik’s core beliefs and lifelong passions has been ensuring that quality care and opportunities are accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. He divides his time between multiple clinics, making sure that top-tier dental care reaches underserved communities in need. Similar to his career, Vik expressed excitement about pickleball aligning with his personal goals.
“I think pickleball is a great way to meet people and also have a social activity that doesn’t involve spending too much money,” says Ravoory. “While I was in NYC, playing regular organized sports was hard or super expensive so I started to play more pickleball—it’s become so accessible with courts popping up everywhere, and it gives me that competitive edge I miss from tennis.”
Whether it's on the court, in the dental office, or on social media, Vik is a great reminder that you can do it all.
